The following is the UK car production fell 27.3% in January 2021 From SMMT recommended by recordtrend.com. And this article belongs to the classification: original, New energy vehicle industry, Automobile industry.

According to the latest data released by the association of British automobile manufacturers and traders (SMMT), UK car production fell 27.3% in January to 86052 vehicles. It was the worst January performance since 2009, with production down 32262 vehicles, the 17th consecutive month of decline. A variety of factors, including the continuing impact of the pandemic, global supply chain problems, long-term production stoppages and friction in the new trade arrangements after the brexit transition period, affect output.

The domestic and overseas automobile manufacturing volume decreased to 16692 and 69360 respectively, with a decrease of – 18.3% and – 29.1% respectively. Although exports still accounted for more than 8 / 10 of the total automobile production in the current month, the shipment volume to the main markets of the EU, the United States and Asia showed a double-digit decline, with – 26.2%, – 34.5% and – 36.1% respectively.

The good news is that UK production of battery electric vehicles (BEVS), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) and hybrid vehicles (HEVs) continued to grow in 2020, with total production of these vehicles growing 18.9% to 21792 in January. This means that 25.3% of vehicles leave the factory using alternative fuels, which is further evidence of the UK’s growing ability to manufacture ultra-low emission and zero emission vehicles.

Data show that British car manufacturing has lost 11.3 billion pounds since March 2020. Although the manufacturing industry is still in operation, production has been affected by the continued closure of new car showrooms and weak demand.
