According to the latest data released by the association of automobile manufacturers and traders (SMMT), UK car production will drop by 29.3% to 920928 in 2020. In December, production fell 2.3% to 71403 vehicles.

Despite the bleak outlook, the UK continues to offer battery electric vehicles (BEVS), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) and hybrid vehicles (HEVs) to buyers at home and around the world. The total production of these models rose to 18.8% from 14.8% a year ago, with Bev’s share rising from 3.4% to 4.5%. Overall, the UK produced 172857 alternative fuel vehicles, 79.6% of which were exported.
