Intel today released its fourth quarter and full year results for fiscal year 2020. According to the report, Intel’s revenue in the fourth quarter was US $19.978 billion, down 1% from US $20.209 billion in the same period of last year, and its net profit was US $5.857 billion, down 15% from US $6.905 billion in the same period of last year.

Intel’s fourth quarter revenue and adjusted earnings per share exceeded Wall Street analysts’ expectations, and its first quarter earnings outlook for fiscal year 2020 also exceeded expectations, but its after hours share price still fell nearly 2%.

Summary of fourth quarter results:

In the quarter ended December 26, Intel’s net profit was $5.857 billion, down 15% from $6.905 billion a year earlier, and earnings per share was $1.42, down 10% from $1.58 a year earlier. Excluding some one-time items (not in accordance with U.S. GAAP), Intel’s adjusted net profit in the fourth quarter was $6.2 billion, down 6% from $6.7 billion in the same period of last year, and its adjusted earnings per share was $1.52, the same as $1.52 in the same period of last year.

By sector, Intel Customer computing group’s net revenue in the fourth quarter was $10.939 billion, compared with $10.010 billion in the same period last year, and its operating profit was $4.508 billion, compared with $4.088 billion in the same period last year. In the fourth quarter, Intel’s nonvolatile storage solutions group had revenue of $1208 million, compared with $1217 million in the same period of last year; its operating profit was $76 million, compared with an operating loss of $96 million in the same period of last year.

Intel’s programmable solutions group had revenue of $422 million in the fourth quarter, compared with $505 million in the same period last year, and operating profit of $43 million, compared with $85 million in the same period last year.

In the fourth quarter, Intel’s revenue of all other businesses was US $211 million, compared with us $104 million in the same period last year, and its operating loss was US $1053 million, compared with us $1051 million in the same period last year.

Fy2020 results:

In the whole fiscal year 2020, Intel’s revenue was $77.9 billion, up 8% from $72 billion in fiscal year 2019; its net profit was $20.9 billion, down 1% from $21 billion in fiscal year 2019; and its earnings per share was $4.94, up 5% from $471 million in fiscal year 2019. Not in accordance with US GAAP, Intel’s adjusted net profit in fiscal year 2020 was US $22.4 billion, up 3% compared with us $21.8 billion in fiscal year 2019, and its adjusted earnings per share was US $5.30, up 9% compared with us $4.87 in fiscal year 2019.

Intel’s operating profit in fiscal year 2020 was US $23.678 billion, compared with us $22.035 billion in fiscal year 2019; Intel’s operating profit in the fourth quarter was US $6.299 billion, not in accordance with US GAAP, compared with us $23.752 billion in fiscal year 2019. Intel’s gross profit margin in fiscal year 2020 was 56.0%, down 2.5 percentage points compared with 58.6% in fiscal year 2019; Intel’s gross profit margin in fiscal year 2020 was 57.6%, down 2.6 percentage points compared with 60.1% in fiscal year 2019. Intel’s operating expenses in fiscal year 2020 were $19.7 billion, 4% flat compared with $19.7 billion in fiscal year 2019. The tax rate of Intel in fiscal year 2020 was 16.7%, up 4.2% compared with 12.5% in fiscal year 2019; the tax rate not in accordance with us gaap was 16.4%, up 4.2% compared with 12.2% in fiscal year 2019.
