In 2021, the total PC shipment reached 349 million units, with a year-on-year increase of 14.8%. Since 2012, the annual PC market shipment has reached a new high.
Jitesh ubrani, IDC mobile device tracking research manager, said: “2021 is a year of rebound in the PC market. In the fourth quarter, PC demand in global emerging markets and global commercial markets remains strong, and supply is still a key factor. Although consumer market demand and education market demand in some developed markets have decreased, we still believe that the overall PC market has returned to a higher level than before covid-19.”
Neha Mahajan, senior research analyst at IDC, said: “The challenging logistics environment of the PC market in 2021, coupled with the continuous supply shortage, means that the actual demand for PC in 2021 is greater than the current shipment level. By the end of 2021, many buyers are still waiting for PC orders to be shipped. With the arrival of the first half of 2022, we expect that the supply will not be fully recovered, especially in the commercial field with the strongest demand.”
IDC defines it as juxtaposition when the difference in shipment share between two or more suppliers is less than one percent (0.1%).
This data is IDC’s estimate before the enterprise’s financial income report. All company data are counted according to the calendar of natural years.
Shipments include shipments to distribution channels or end users. OEM sales are calculated by the company / brand they sell.
Traditional PCs include desktops, notebooks and workstations, not tablets or x86 servers. Removable tablets and tablets are part of PC device tracking, but are not covered in this press release.
