The following is the In 2020, the average NAND flash capacity of smart phones will exceed 100GB From Counterpoint recommended by recordtrend.com. And this article belongs to the classification: Counterpoint, Intelligent mobile phone.

NAND flash capacity has become one of the most important factors for consumers to consider when buying new smart phones. With the continuous improvement of cameras, application processors and screens, the storage demand of video, pictures and other multimedia applications is surging. Therefore, the NAND flash capacity of smart phones is also increasing rapidly.

According to the latest research on counterpoint smart phone storage, the average NAND flash memory capacity of smart phones will exceed 100GB for the first time in 2020, but there is a big difference between Apple phones and Android phones. In the fourth quarter of 2020, the average NAND flash capacity of Apple phones was 140.9gb, while that of Android phones was only 95.7gb. However, the gap is narrowing. As can be seen from the figure below, the average NAND flash capacity of Android phones has been increasing in the past few years. In 2020, the average NAND flash capacity of apple and Android phones will grow by 5.6% and 20.5% respectively.

The above figure shows that Apple’s storage capacity has not made a major breakthrough, and the highest NAND capacity that has been adopted since 2018 is 512gb. On the contrary, Samsung, the largest Android manufacturer, seeks to maximize storage capacity and introduces the galaxy S10 plus with 1TB NAND in 2019. As a result, Apple’s storage growth rate will be lower than Android’s in 2020.

Our Q1 2019-q4 2020 mobile phone sales tracking shows that the average NAND flash capacity of smart phones has increased by 20.3%, from 80.7gb in 2019 to 97.11gb in 2020. However, in 2020, Apple’s mobile phones will only increase by 5.6%, far lower than that of Android’s 20.5%. The gap between the two camps continues to narrow, with a gap of about 45.2gb in the fourth quarter of 2020, down from 56.8gb in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Although NAND prices continue to decline from 2019 to 2020, the sales share of large capacity (256gb and 512gb) apple models has not increased. The share of large capacity models in the fourth quarter of 2020 is about 21.5%, lower than 27.2% in the fourth quarter of 2019. The average capacity of Apple mobile phone is close to 130gb, and 128-256gb is enough for ordinary users. In the fourth quarter of 2020, the market demand for 512gb iPhone accounted for about 3.7%.

The same is true for large capacity (256gb + 512gb + 1024gb) Android models. In the fourth quarter of 2020, the proportion of high-capacity Android models was about 7.5%, slightly higher than 6.3% in the fourth quarter of 2019. However, the proportion of 128GB Android phones increased from 26.2% in the fourth quarter of 2019 to 39.0% in the fourth quarter of 2020, indicating that 128GB is the minimum standard for medium and high-end phones.
