Edison research, together with wondery and Art19, released a new report, “mothers and the media in 2022”. The report is based on a national telephone survey of 1502 people aged 12 and over in early 2022. A mother is defined as a woman who has children under the age of 18 in her family.
In 2012, most mothers (61%) began to use mobile devices and saw a new lifestyle, including shopping on the road, participating in social media, and watching audio and video content anytime, anywhere. Ten years later, 98% of mothers have smartphones, and 86% of mothers use mobile phones to access the Internet. They can find anything, contact anyone, and it’s all in the palm of their hand.
A recent online study found that mothers reported that 11 was the right age for their children to get their first mobile phone. One third of mothers (34%) said it was appropriate to be 10 years old and below, and 28% said it was appropriate to be 11 or about 12 years old.
