The following is the Studies have found that eating too much red and processed meat can lead to poor heart function recommended by recordtrend.com. And this article belongs to the classification: Life data.
According to foreign media reports, as the weather gets warmer, more and more people will choose outdoor barbecue – at least in the United States, this habit usually involves hamburgers and steaks. It’s no secret that red meat is bad for heart health, but previous studies on this topic are not entirely consistent. Here to help solve this problem is a new study that “strengthens” the link between eating too much red meat and hurting your heart. The new study is observational – data from about 20000 people in the UK Biobank, including their self-reported eating habits.
Participants used a variety of techniques to assess their heart health in order to assess cardiac function, pumping capacity, and vascular elasticity.
The study adjusted the data with heart rate to other potential influencing factors on heart health, such as BMI and smoking status. After adjusting, the researchers found that eating red and processed meat was associated with poor overall heart health.
Participants who ate more red meat were found to have stiffer arteries, smaller ventricles and poorer heart function than those who ate oily fish with improved heart function. The researchers pointed out that although factors such as obesity and high cholesterol may play a role in the negative association of red meat, these factors do not fully explain it.
Dr Zahra raisi estabragh, the author of the study, explained:
It has been suggested that these factors may be responsible for the observed relationship between meat and heart disease. For example, it may be that more red meat intake leads to higher blood cholesterol, which in turn leads to heart disease. Our research shows that these four factors do play a role in the link between meat intake and heart health, but they are not the whole story This is an observational study, and causality cannot be assumed. But overall, it seems wise to limit red and processed meat intake for the sake of heart health.
