The following is the In 2020, Apple’s PC shipment will reach 22.6 million units, up 16% year on year From Canalys recommended by recordtrend.com. And this article belongs to the classification: MacBook.

According to a new report from canalys, Apple will ship 22.6 million pcs in 2020, up 16% from 19.4 million in 2019, but the company still lags far behind its competitors. The report, which does not include tablets, shows that the growth of the global PC market has accelerated significantly in the last quarter of 2020.

Shipments of desktops, laptops and workstations grew 25% year-on-year to a record 90.3 million. The fourth quarter of 2020 is the third consecutive quarter of growth, supported by strong holiday season demand.

In 2020, PC shipment increased by 11% to 297 million units, the highest annual growth since 2010 and the highest shipment since 2014. Canalys pointed out that the growth of PC market in 2020 was driven by notebook and mobile workstation, and the shipment of these devices increased by 44% to 235.1 million units. The volume of desktop computers and workstations is 20% lower than that in 2019, reaching 61.9 million.

During 2020, apple ranked fourth in PC shipments with 22.6 million devices. HP and Dell have more than twice as many PCs as apple, while Lenovo leads the market with 72.6 million. Still, Apple’s device shipments are 16% higher than in 2019.

Looking forward to 2021, canalys predicts that the PC market will be more competitive. It is reported that the whole industry is reorienting to a wider range of customers with “new behaviors and use cases”, although it is expected that the first half of this year will be limited to some extent by supply shortage.

In order to take advantage of the increased demand from 2020, manufacturers are expected to put chip innovation and the improvement of operating system capability in the first place. A particular trend that canalys expects is the fierce competition between apple and Microsoft in the field of custom chips, but it may also focus on chrome and windows updates to attract users away from competitors’ platforms.
