From January to February, Internet enterprises above Designated Size achieved an operating profit of 15.17 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.3%, which continued the good growth trend since the second half of last year; however, the operating cost rose rapidly, with a year-on-year increase of 31.1%. Affected by this, the growth rate of operating profit was 11.7 percentage points lower than that of revenue in the same period.

R & D costs are growing rapidly. From January to February, Internet enterprises above Designated Size invested 11.6 billion yuan in R & D, a year-on-year increase of 19.7% and a year-on-year increase of 9.1 percentage points.

(1) The overall growth of information service is stable, and the growth trend of different fields is differentiated. From January to February, Internet enterprises completed 118.5 billion yuan of information service revenue, up 14.4% year on year, accounting for 59.5% of Internet business revenue, down 7.6 percentage points year on year. Among them, the field of online games has cooled significantly; the rapid growth momentum of audio and video services has not decreased; news and content service enterprises have continued to transform and upgrade; and the enterprises mainly providing search services have reversed the downturn of last year.

The development of Internet industry among regions is unbalanced, and the growth shows a trend of differentiation. From January to February, the Internet business income of the eastern region was 165.2 billion yuan, up 30.2% year on year, accounting for 91.8% of the Internet business income of the whole country (excluding cross regional enterprises), 0.6 percentage point higher than that of the same period of last year. The Internet business revenue in Central China was 5.87 billion yuan, down 2.6% year on year. The Internet business income in the western region reached 8.18 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 45.2%, 16.2 percentage points higher than the national average. The Internet business income in Northeast China reached 620 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25.8%, reversing last year’s sustained negative growth.

Major provinces and cities have achieved steady and rapid growth, while other provinces and cities are developing differently. From January to February, Guangdong (up 9.6%), Beijing (up 21.7%), Shanghai (up 82.7%), Zhejiang (up 64.5%) and Fujian (up 8.3%) ranked the top five in terms of accumulated revenue from Internet business, with a total revenue of 159.2 billion yuan, up 31.5% year-on-year. The growth rate exceeded the national average by 2.5 percentage points, accounting for 87.6% of the total revenue of the whole country (excluding cross regional enterprises) In the same period of last year, it increased by 1 percentage point. There are 22 provinces and cities with positive growth rate of Internet business income in China, among which Sichuan, Henan, Shanghai, Shandong, Yunnan, Zhejiang, Guangxi and Guizhou have a growth rate of more than 50%, and Xinjiang, Hubei, Shanxi, Tianjin and Anhui have a decline rate of more than 30%.

The number of mobile apps picked up slightly on a month on month basis.
