In March, the production of raw coal in large-scale industries decreased slightly, the production of crude oil increased steadily, and the production of natural gas and electric power maintained rapid growth. Raw coal production decreased slightly. In the first quarter, the production of raw coal was 6.97 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 16.0%, a year-on-year increase of 15.4% over the first quarter of 2019, and a two-year average increase of 7.4%; the import of coal was 68.46 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 28.5%.

The comprehensive trading price of port coal has increased. On 2 April, the prices of 5500, 5000 and 4500 kcal coal in Qinhuangdao Port were 634 yuan, 567 yuan and 502 yuan per ton, respectively, up 54 yuan, 49 yuan and 39 yuan from 5 March, respectively.

Crude oil production accelerated, and the processing capacity increased rapidly. In March, the production of crude oil was 17.09 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%, an average increase of 1.6% in two years, and an average daily output of 0.551 million tons. The crude oil processing capacity was 59.79 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 19.7%, 11.8% higher than that in March, 2019, and an average increase of 5.8% in two years. The import of crude oil increased significantly, and the international crude oil price was basically stable. In March, the import of crude oil was 49.66 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 20.8%; in the first quarter, the import of crude oil was 139.23 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%. The spot FOB price of Brent crude oil on March 31 was US $63.52 per barrel, down 1.6% from US $64.56 per barrel on March 1.

Natural gas production maintained rapid growth. In March, the production of natural gas reached 18.5 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 12.1%, an increase of 24.7% compared with that in March 2019, and an average increase of 11.7% in two years, with an average daily output of 600 million cubic meters.

In the first quarter, the production of natural gas reached 53.3 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year growth of 13.1%, 23.4% higher than that in the first quarter of 2019, and an average growth of 11.1% in two years.

Imports of natural gas increased significantly. In March, the import of natural gas was 8.73 million tons, up 26.1% year on year. In the first quarter, the import of natural gas was 29.39 million tons, up 19.6% year on year.

II. Power production

Electric power production grew rapidly. In March, power generation reached 657.9 billion kwh, a year-on-year increase of 17.4%, an increase of 12.0% over March 2019, and an average increase of 5.8% in two years, with an average daily power generation of 21.22 billion kwh. In the first quarter, power generation reached 1905.1 billion kwh, a year-on-year growth of 19.0%, 10.8% higher than that in the first quarter of 2019, and an average growth of 5.3% in two years.

In March, thermal power, nuclear power and wind power continued to grow, while hydropower and solar power declined. Among them, the year-on-year growth rate of thermal power is 25.7%, with the base period from March to march in 2019, with an average growth rate of 7.8% in two years; the decline rate of hydropower is 11.5%, with an average growth rate of 8.8% in two years; the growth rate of nuclear power is 11.7%, with an average growth rate of 9.2% in two years; the growth rate of wind power is 4.0%, with an average growth rate of 10.8% in two years; the decline rate of solar power is 0.6%, with an average growth rate of 3.9% in two years.
