Amazon released its fourth quarter results for the year ended December 31, 2020.

Compared with $87.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2019, net sales in the fourth quarter increased by 44% to $125.6 billion. Excluding the impact of foreign exchange rate changes in the current quarter, net sales increased by 42% compared with the fourth quarter of 2019.
Revenue increased to $6.9 billion in the fourth quarter, compared with $3.9 billion in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Fourth quarter net income increased to $7.2 billion, or $14.09 per diluted share, compared with $3.3 billion, or $6.47 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Net sales increased 38% to $386.1 billion, compared with $280.5 billion in 2019. Net sales increased by 37% compared with that in 2019, after deducting the favorable effect of exchange rate changes in the whole year.
Revenue increased to $22.9 billion, compared with $14.5 billion in 2019.
Net income increased to $21.3 billion, or $41.83 per diluted share, compared with $11.6 billion, or $23.01 per diluted share, in 2019.
Operating cash flow increased by 72% in the past 12 months to $66.1 billion, compared with $38.5 billion for the 12 months ended December 31, 2019.
Free cash flow increased to $31 billion in the past 12 months, compared with $25.8 billion for the 12 months ended December 31, 2019.
Compared with the 12 months ended December 31, 2019 (US $16.2 billion), free cash flow minus principal repayments of financing leases and financing debt increased to US $20.3 billion.
Free cash flow, less principal repayments of equipment finance leases and all other finance leases and financing debt, increased to $21.4 billion in the following 12 months and $12.5 billion in the 12 months ended December 31, 2019.
As of December 31, 2020, the number of outstanding common stock plus stock award based shares totalled 518 million, compared with 512 million a year ago.
