According to a new survey conducted by Ipsos for the world economic forum, 59% of the respondents in 30 countries and regions expect to return to normal living standards within the next 12 months, and 6% of them believe that this is already the case; 9% thought that it would take no more than 3 months to return to normal; 13% thought it would take 4-6 months; 32% thought that 7-12 months. About one in five thought it would take more than three years (10%) or never recover (8%).

There be quite different views on when to return to normal: more than 70% of adults in Saudi Arabia, Russia, India and Chinese mainland believe their lives will return to normal within a year. By contrast, 80% of Japan and more than half of France, Italy, South Korea and Spain expect this to take longer.

How long will the new crown pandemic take to get under control?

On average, 58% of people expect the new crown pandemic to be controlled within the next year, of which 13% believe that this situation has occurred or will occur within three months, 13% believe that the new crown pandemic will be controlled within 4-6 months, and 32% believe that the new crown pandemic will be controlled within 7-12 months.

Changes of mood and mental health since the new crown pandemic

An average of 45% of adults said their emotional and mental health had worsened since the start of the new crown pandemic about a year ago, three times the proportion of adults who had improved (16%).

Changes in emotional and mental health since early 2021

In China (51 points) and India (41 points), adults who thought their emotional and mental health had improved were at least 40 percent more than those who thought it had worsened.

In Hungary (30 points), France (29 points) and Italy (26 points), more people whose mental and emotional health has improved since early 2021 than deteriorated.
