The following is the Development report of artificial intelligence from 2011 to 2020 From AMiner recommended by recordtrend.com. And this article belongs to the classification: artificial intelligence, research report.
The report is based on the “scientific and technological information big data mining and service platform” (aminer) platform independently developed by Professor Tang Jie’s team of Tsinghua University. According to the top journals and conferences in the field of artificial intelligence during 2011-2020 (a total of 44 All the papers and patent data collected by the Institute fully show the major scientific research progress, achievements and hot spots of the development of artificial intelligence so far.
Aminer has selected ten research hotspots of artificial intelligence in the past decade
According to the papers published in the international top journals and conferences in the field of artificial intelligence in the past 10 years, the aminer influence index of different technology research directions is calculated through AI algorithm, so as to obtain the general list of research hotspots in the field of artificial intelligence and select the “top ten research hotspots of artificial intelligence” in the past 10 years.
The evaluation results show that the top ten research hotspots in the past decade are: deep neural network, feature extraction, image classification, target detection, semantic segmentation, representation learning, generation of confrontation network, semantic network, collaborative filtering and machine translation. The aminer index of each research hotspot is shown in the table.
In the past decade, five scholars in the field of artificial intelligence have won Turing awards
Through the aminer intelligent engine, we can automatically collect the information of Turing prize winners and their papers published and scholars’ portraits over the years. Three times in the past decade, the Turing prize has been officially awarded to the field of artificial intelligence. In 2010, Leslie valiant won the Turing prize for her contributions to computing theory (PAC, enumeration complexity, algebraic computing and parallel distributed computing). This achievement is one of the mathematical foundations for the rapid development of artificial intelligence. In 2011, Judea Pearl was awarded the prize for his contribution to artificial intelligence through probability and causal reasoning; in 2018, yoshua bengio, Geoffrey Hinton and Yann Lecun, three great gods in the field of deep learning, won the Turing prize for their major breakthroughs in concept and engineering, which promoted deep neural network to become a key technology in the field of computing. Back propagation (BP) algorithm of Hinton, promotion of convolutional neural network (CNN) by Lecun and contribution of bengio to recurrent neural network (RNN) are the basis of leaping development of image recognition, speech recognition and natural language processing.
AI high level talents are mostly gathered in the United States
There are 155408 high-level talents in the field of artificial intelligence in the world, and 17368 high-level talents in the field of artificial intelligence in China. According to the distribution of AI high-level scholars in different countries, the number of AI high-level scholars in the United States is the largest, with 1244 person times, accounting for 62.2%. China ranks second after the United States, with 196 person times, accounting for 9.8%. Chinese AI high-level scholars are mainly distributed in Beijing Tianjin Hebei, Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta. Beijing is still the domestic city with the largest number of AI high-level scholars, with 79.
Among the top 10 institutions with high-level scholars in the field of artificial intelligence in the world, the total number of high-level scholars in American institutions is far ahead. Google, with 185 people, ranks first in the United States. Tsinghua University is the only Chinese institution selected in the top 10, while the rest are American institutions.
In terms of the number of sub field papers, the development of American universities and scientific and technological institutions in each subdivision direction of AI is relatively balanced, and the development of more than 10 sub fields, such as natural language processing, chip technology, machine learning, information retrieval and mining, human-computer interaction and so on, is in the leading position in the world. China’s AI institutions have strong strength in the fields of speech recognition, classic AI, computer network, multimedia, visualization and Internet of things, all of which have entered the global leading ranks.
China leads the world in AI patent applications
In the past decade, the number of patent applications in the field of artificial intelligence in China was 389571, ranking the first in the world, accounting for 74.7% of the global total, 8.2 times that of the United States. On the whole, the number of domestic AI related patent applications is increasing year by year, and the growth rate is significantly accelerated after 2015.
