Millennials spend an average of two hours and 34 minutes a day entertaining themselves on social media. In contrast, ordinary Internet users spend 2 hours and 25 minutes on social platforms. What’s more, millennials spend more time on social media every day than linear TV (1 hour and 55 minutes), streaming audio (1 hour and 40 minutes), online TV (1 hour and 37 minutes) and games (1 hour and 23 minutes).

Why do millennials use social networks?

About three in 10 millennials (28%) use social media to research or find products to buy. About 29% of the millennials know about new brands or products through advertisements on social media, and nearly half of the respondents (48%) study products through social networks.

Going to social media for inspiration is not unique to Millennials. According to a previous global survey by PwC, 37% of consumers find their buying inspiration through social networks.
