1、 The industry maintained stable operation

(1) The growth rate of telecom business revenue rebounded, and the total volume of telecom business grew rapidly

According to preliminary accounting, in 2020, the total revenue of telecom business will reach 1.36 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.6% over the previous year, with a year-on-year increase of 2.9 percentage points. According to the price of last year, the total amount of telecom business was 1.5 trillion yuan, up 20.6% year on year.

(2) The fixed communication business grows rapidly, and the emerging business plays an obvious driving role

In 2020, the revenue of fixed communication business will reach 467.3 billion yuan, an increase of 12% over the previous year, accounting for 34.5% of the revenue of telecommunication business, an increase of 2.8 percentage points over the previous year, and the proportion will increase for three consecutive years.

By applying new technologies such as cloud computing, big data, Internet of things and artificial intelligence, we will vigorously expand new businesses and make the revenue of fixed value-added and other businesses the first engine of growth. In 2020, the revenue of fixed data and Internet services will reach 237.6 billion yuan, an increase of 9.2% over the previous year, accounting for 17.5% of the total revenue of telecom services from 16.6% of the previous year, driving the revenue growth of telecom services by 1.53 percentage points, contributing 42.9% to the revenue growth of telecom services in the whole industry; the revenue of fixed value-added services will reach 174.3 billion yuan, an increase of 26.9% over the previous year, accounting for 42.9% of the total revenue of telecom services It increased from 10.5% to 12.9% over the previous year, driving the revenue growth of telecom business by 2.82 percentage points and contributing 79.1% to the revenue growth. Among them, the revenue of data center business, cloud computing, big data and Internet of things business increased by 22.2%, 85.8%, 35.2% and 17.7% respectively over the previous year; the revenue of IPTV business was 33.5 billion yuan, an increase of 13.6% over the previous year.

(3) The proportion of mobile communication business decreased, and data and Internet business remained an important source of income

In 2020, the revenue of mobile communication business will reach 889.1 billion yuan, a decrease of 0.4% over the previous year, and the proportion of mobile communication business revenue will drop to 65.5%, 6.4 percentage points lower than the peak in 2017. Among them, mobile data and Internet business achieved a revenue of 620.4 billion yuan, an increase of 1.7% over the previous year, accounting for 45.7% of the telecom business revenue from 46.6% in the previous year, driving the telecom business revenue growth by 0.79 percentage points, and contributing 22.3% to the revenue growth.

2、 Speed up of network and development of universal service

(1) The scale of mobile phone users decreased slightly, and the penetration rate of 4G users exceeded 80%

In 2020, the number of telephone users in China will decrease by 16.4 million, and the total number will fall back to 1.776 billion. Among them, the total number of mobile phone users was 1.594 billion, with a net decrease of 7.28 million throughout the year, and the penetration rate was 113.9 units / 100 people, down 0.5 units / 100 people from the end of last year. The total number of 4G users reached 1.289 billion, with a net increase of 6.79 million, accounting for 80.8% of the number of mobile phone users. The total number of fixed line telephone users was 182 million, a net decrease of 9.13 million throughout the year, and the penetration rate dropped to 13 units / 100 people.

(2) Nearly 90% of 100 MB broadband has been upgraded to Gigabit broadband access

The pace of network acceleration has been accelerated, and the promotion of Gigabit broadband services has been continuously promoted. By the end of 2020, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecom enterprises has reached 484 million, with a net increase of 34.27 million. Among them, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users with 100 Mbps and above access rate reached 435 million, with a net increase of 50.74 million in the whole year, accounting for 89.9% of the total number of fixed broadband users, accounting for 4.5 percentage points higher than that at the end of last year; the number of users with 1000 Mbps and above access rate reached 6.4 million, with a net increase of 5.53 million compared with that at the end of last year.

(3) Telecom universal service continued to advance, and rural broadband users grew rapidly

By the end of 2020, the total number of rural broadband users in China will reach 142 million, with a net increase of 7.12 million, an increase of 5.3% over the end of last year. The proportion of optical fiber and 4G in China’s administrative villages is more than 98%. The average download rate in the pilot areas of telecom universal service is more than 70m, and the “same network and same speed” is realized in rural and urban areas.

(4) The development of new formats is accelerated, and the number of users of cellular Internet of things is growing rapidly

We will promote transformation and upgrading, accelerate the construction of new infrastructure such as 5g network, Internet of things, big data and industrial Internet, and promote the deep integration of new generation information technology and manufacturing industry. By the end of 2020, the three basic telecom enterprises have developed 1.136 billion users of cellular Internet of things, with a net increase of 108 million in the whole year. Among them, the end users applied to intelligent manufacturing, intelligent transportation and intelligent public utilities account for 18.5%, 18.3% and 22.1% respectively. The total number of IPTV users reached 315 million, with a net increase of 21.2 million.

3、 The consumption scale of mobile data traffic continues to expand

(1) Mobile Internet traffic is growing rapidly, and the average monthly traffic (Dou) is in the 10GB range

Affected by the novel coronavirus pneumonia and the “home” new life style, the demand for mobile Internet applications is booming, online consumption is extremely active, and the large traffic application scenarios such as short video and live streaming are driving the rapid growth of mobile Internet traffic. In 2020, the consumption of mobile Internet access traffic will reach 165.6 billion GB, an increase of 35.7% over the previous year. The average monthly unit traffic (Dou) of mobile Internet in the whole year reached 10.35gb/unit · month, an increase of 32% over the previous year, and the Dou in December was as high as 11.92gb/unit · month. Among them, mobile Internet traffic reached 156.8 billion GB, an increase of 29.6% over the previous year, accounting for 94.7% of the total traffic.

(2) Mobile SMS service volume is still out of sync, voice service volume continues to decline

In 2020, the volume of China’s mobile short message service will increase by 18.1% over the previous year, and the growth rate will decrease by 14.1% over the previous year; the revenue of mobile short message service will increase by 2.4% over the previous year, and the growth rate difference of mobile short message service will decrease from 33% to 15.7% over the previous year. The impact of the substitution of voice services by Internet applications continues to deepen. In 2020, the call duration of mobile phones in China will be 2.24 trillion minutes, a decrease of 6.2% over the previous year.

4、 Continuous upgrading of network infrastructure capacity

(1) Investment in fixed assets grew rapidly, and the proportion of mobile investment continued to rise

In 2020, the three basic telecom enterprises and China Tower Co., Ltd. completed a total investment of 407.2 billion yuan in fixed assets, an increase of 11% over the previous year, with a year-on-year growth rate of 6.3 percentage points. Among them, the fixed assets investment of mobile communications ranked first, with an investment of 215.4 billion yuan, accounting for 52.9% of the total investment, an increase of 5.1 percentage points over the previous year.

(2) Optimization and upgrading of network infrastructure, steady progress of 5g network construction

Speed up the construction of 5g network, constantly eliminate the blind spots of network coverage, improve network quality, enhance network supply and service capacity, and constantly make new progress in the construction of new generation information and communication network. In 2020, 4.28 million km of new optical cable lines will be built, and the total length of optical cable lines in China will reach 51.69 million km. By the end of 2020, the number of Internet broadband access ports has reached 946 million, a net increase of 30.27 million over the end of last year. Among them, the number of FTTH / 0 ports reached 880 million, a net increase of 43.61 million over the end of last year, accounting for 93% of Internet access ports from 91.3% at the end of last year. The number of xDSL ports dropped to 6.49 million, accounting for 0.7%.

In 2020, the total number of mobile communication base stations in China will reach 9.31 million, with a net increase of 900000 throughout the year. Among them, the total number of 4G base stations has reached 5.75 million, with deep coverage in urban areas. The construction of 5g network is progressing steadily. According to the principle of moderate advance, more than 600000 5g base stations have been built, and more than 718000 5g base stations have been opened. Among them, China Telecom and China Unicom have jointly built and shared more than 330000 5g base stations, and 5g network has covered cities above prefecture level and key counties and cities in China.

5、 Coordinated development of Eastern, central and Western Regions

(1) The share of telecom business revenue by region is relatively stable

In 2020, the proportion of telecom business revenue in the eastern and western regions will be 51% and 23.7% respectively, both of which will increase by 0.1 percentage point compared with the previous year; the proportion in the central region will be 19.6%, which will be the same as the previous year; the proportion in the northeast region will be 5.6%, which will decrease by 0.2 percentage point compared with the previous year.

(2) The proportion of fixed Internet broadband access users with 100 megabytes or above in Northeast China is leading

By the end of 2020, the number of fixed Internet broadband access users with 100 Mbps or above in the eastern, central, Western and northeastern regions will reach 186.18 million, 108.38 million, 113.86 million and 26.2 million respectively, accounting for 88.9%, 90.8%, 90.3% and 91.2% of the broadband access users in the region, which will increase by 2.8, 4.9, 7 and 3.7 percentage points respectively over the previous year.

(3) The growth rate of mobile Internet traffic in Western China is leading in China

In 2020, the mobile Internet access traffic in the eastern, central, Western and northeast regions will reach 70 billion GB, 35.7 billion GB, 50.5 billion GB and 9.34 billion GB respectively, increasing by 31.9%, 36.5%, 42.3% and 29% respectively over the previous year. The growth rate in the western region will be 10.4%, 5.8% and 13.3% higher than that in the eastern, central and northeast regions respectively. In December, the average household flow in the West reached 13.81 per household per month, which was 2.02gb, 3.25gb and 3.78gb higher than that in the East, the middle and the northeast, respectively.
