Market supply

From January to August 2020, the impact of the global epidemic situation will be slowed down. The country has imported 515000 vehicles (including chassis), with a year-on-year decrease of 26.6%, and the total amount of imported vehicles is 172.42 billion yuan. In August, 85000 vehicles (including chassis) were imported in a single month, with a year-on-year decrease of 5.6%. The total amount of imported vehicles was 29.6 billion yuan.

Sales

From January to August, the sales of imported passenger car terminals were 600000, with a cumulative year-on-year decrease of 18.3%; in August, the sales of imported passenger car terminals were 83000, with a year-on-year increase of 0.7%, mainly due to the low base number in the same period last year.

Parallel imported vehicles

From January to July, 57000 vehicles were imported in parallel, accounting for 13.3% of the total import volume. Compared with the market share of the whole year in 2019, it decreased by 1.7 percentage points, with a cumulative decrease of 43% year-on-year. In July, there were only 33 parallel imported vehicles (number recording), with a sharp drop of 99.7% month on month.

Vehicle structure

From January to August, the sales of imported passenger cars were still dominated by sedans and SUVs, accounting for 95.7%; the decline rates of sedans, SUVs and MPVS were 17.1%, 19.7% and 12.3%, respectively, with a decrease. In August, SUV decreased by 5.8%, while sedan and MPV increased by 8.0% and 16.8% respectively.

Hierarchy

From January to August 2020, the market share of large and medium and large-sized imported vehicles will continue to increase, increasing by 2.3 and 7.0 percentage points respectively compared with that in 2019; the market shares of other segments have decreased, of which the shares of medium-sized and compact imported vehicles will decrease by 5.7 and 2.5 percentage points respectively. Data show that the impact of the epidemic on the middle and high-end market is relatively small.

Displacement structure

From January to August 2020, 1.5-2.0l will remain in the first emission range, with a share of 44.6%, but a decrease of 1.5 percentage points; due to the domestic production of Tesla, the share of emissions below 1.0L will decrease by nearly 3.7 percentage points; the share of 2.0-3.0l emission range will expand, with the overall share of 37.1%, an increase of 6.1% over the whole year of 2019.
