Unity recently released the latest quarterly financial report of fiscal year 2021. Although the company has not yet made a profit, it is making more and more money. Unity’s revenue for the three months ended December 31, 2021 was $315.9 million, exceeding the overall expectations for the quarter. This figure is 43% higher than revenue in the fourth quarter of 2020, when revenue was only $220.3 million.

The quarterly loss was $144.8 million, an increase of 79% over unity’s loss of $80.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2020. Unity said the increase in losses was mainly due to the increase in stock based compensation costs.

Unity’s annual performance is quite optimistic compared with the same period last year, especially considering that this year is the second year of their listing in the stock market. The company’s annual revenue in 2021 was $1.1 billion (an increase of 44% over 2020), and the annual loss was $531.7 million. In 2020, it lost only $2.748, which means that its loss increased by 93% year-on-year.

In addition to the increase in share based compensation costs in 2021, unity said its losses came from $49.8 million spent on terminating the lease agreement.

Unity’s annual results also provide data on its customer revenue of more than $100000. This figure increased by 33% year-on-year, jumping from 793 customers at the end of 2020 to 1052 customers at the end of 2021.

This does mean that more high-income customers choose to do business with unity. After unity’s acquisition of Vita digital, this number may continue to rise.
