1. The tea garden area continued to increase slightly
● according to statistics, in 2021, the total area of tea gardens in 18 major tea producing provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) in China was 48.9609 million mu, an increase of 1.484 million mu year-on-year, an increase of 3.13%. Among them, the picking area was 43.7458 million mu, with a year-on-year increase of 2.284 million mu, with a growth rate of 5.51%. There are five provinces with a picking area of more than 3 million mu, namely Yunnan Province, Guizhou Province, Sichuan Province, Hubei Province and Fujian Province. There are two provinces with an untapped area of more than 1 million mu, namely Sichuan Province and Hubei Province.

2. The growth rate of tea production slowed down
● in 2021, the total output of dry wool tea in China was 3063200 tons, an increase of 77100 tons or 2.6% over the previous year. The provinces with an output of more than 300000 tons include Fujian Province, Hubei Province, Yunnan Province, Sichuan Province and Guizhou Province. Sichuan Province, Hubei Province, Fujian Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have increased production by more than 10000 tons.

3. Agricultural output value increased significantly
● in 2021, the total output value of dry wool tea in China was 292.814 billion yuan, an increase of 30.156 billion yuan or 11.48%. There are five provinces with an output value of more than 20 billion yuan, namely Guizhou Province, Sichuan Province, Fujian Province, Zhejiang Province, Hubei Province and Yunnan Province; There are four provinces with an output value growth of more than 3 billion yuan, followed by Sichuan Province, Shandong Province, Hubei Province and Shaanxi Province.

4. Continuous optimization of tea structure
● in 2021, except for yellow tea, the output of the other five traditional tea categories in China will increase by varying degrees. 1. Effectively deal with adverse factors and ensure orderly production everywhere

In terms of precipitation, the national average annual precipitation is 672.1mm, 6.7% more than that of the whole year. In terms of temperature, there are many high temperature processes, and the high temperature in the South lasts for a long time in summer and autumn. Overall, the weather has little impact on the national tea production in 2021.
In terms of combating the epidemic, the governments of the main tea producing areas have issued relevant policies and taken positive response measures in 2021. Main methods: first, do a good job in tea garden maintenance guidance; Second, improve the production and processing capacity of processing enterprises; Third, strengthen technical guidance and training; Fourth, do a good job in the recruitment and training of tea pickers; Fifth, actively coordinate financing loans and do a good job in raising working capital of enterprises. 2. With proper planning and effective implementation, the overall planning of the Three Teas has been steadily promoted

Under the guidance of the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas, the tea industry has been adjusted and optimized according to the principle of suitable areas and varieties. At present, four advantageous areas have been formed, and the production concentration has reached more than 80%. At the same time, all localities have carried out the action of zero growth in the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which has significantly improved the ecological environment and product quality in the main tea producing areas. The green prevention and control coverage rate of tea diseases and insect pests in China reached 57.5%. Under the guidance of “coordinating tea culture, tea industry and tea technology”, all localities continue to expand the multiple functions of the tea industry, extend the industrial chain and enhance the value chain. All localities are also continuing to promote the implementation of brand strategy. While building regional public brands, they pay attention to cultivating and supporting brand enterprises. The tea industry is also being empowered by science and technology. New technologies such as Internet of things, big data and biotechnology are widely used in the tea industry.
3. The existing problems are still difficult to solve, and the market risk is gradually increasing
● under the stable and good situation of national tea production, some prominent problems restricting industrial development still need to be solved urgently. First, the area of tea gardens is large, and the proportion of old tea gardens is too high. At present, the area of old tea gardens with more than 30 years in China is about 15 million mu, accounting for 31% of the total area. Second, production costs continued to rise. Spring tea picking mainly depends on labor. With the hollowing out of rural areas, the labor force is decreasing and aging, the labor cost continues to rise and the efficiency is not high. Third, the imbalance of product supply and demand structure has not been alleviated. With the new tea gardens entering the harvest period after 2018, the annual new mass production is bound to further increase the pressure on market sales. Solving the “difficulty of selling” by marketing will be the main proposition of the tea industry in the future.
