Economic operation of software industry in the first quarter of 2022
In the first quarter, China’s software and information technology service industry (hereinafter referred to as “software industry”) operated steadily, the software business revenue maintained double-digit growth, the decline in total profit narrowed, and the growth rate of software business export fell.
1、 Overall operation
Software business revenue maintained steady growth. In the first quarter, China’s software business revenue was 2006 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 11.6% [1]. The growth rate was the same as that from January to February, 2.7 percentage points higher than the two-year average growth rate in the same period in 2020 and 2021.

The decline in total profits narrowed. In the first quarter, the total profit of the software industry was 203.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 3.9%, 3.7 percentage points lower than that from January to February.

The export growth rate of software business fell. In the first quarter, the export of software business was US $11.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.3%, 2.8 percentage points lower than that from January to February. 2、 Operation in different fields
Software product revenue growth picked up. In the first quarter, the revenue of software products was 509.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%, 0.8 percentage points higher than that from January to February, accounting for 25.4% of the revenue of the whole industry. Among them, the income of industrial software products was 51.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.1%; The revenue of basic software increased by 9.5% year-on-year.
The growth rate of information technology service revenue is prominent. In the first quarter, the revenue from information technology services was 1310.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.7%, 2.1 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of the whole industry, accounting for 65.3% of the revenue of the whole industry. Among them, cloud computing and big data services achieved a total revenue of 205.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%, accounting for 15.7% of the revenue of information technology services; IC Design revenue was 53.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.2%; The technical service revenue of e-commerce platform was 191.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.7%; The service revenue of industrial Internet platform increased by 17.4% year-on-year.
Revenue from information security products and services accelerated growth. In the first quarter, the revenue of information security products and services was 33.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.9%, 1.5 percentage points higher than that from January to February.

3、 Regional operation
The income of the software industry in the eastern region has increased steadily, and the growth trend in the central and western regions is prominent. In the first quarter, the software business revenue in the eastern region was 1656.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.7%, down 0.1 percentage points from January to February; The software business revenue in the central region was 66.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.7%, 3.1 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of the whole industry; The software business revenue in the western region was 247.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.2%, 6.6 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of the whole industry; The software business revenue in Northeast China was 35.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%, 4.4 percentage points lower than that from January to February. The software business income of the four regions accounted for 82.6%, 3.3%, 12.3% and 1.8% of the total national income respectively.

The proportion of business income in major software provinces decreased slightly. In the first quarter, among the top five provinces with software business income, the software income of Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai was 439.5 billion yuan, 378.5 billion yuan, 280.6 billion yuan, 172.6 billion yuan and 164.8 billion yuan respectively, an increase of 13.2%, 6.1%, 10.5%, 5.4% and 17.6% respectively. The total software business income of the five provinces (cities) was 1436 billion yuan, accounting for 71.6% of the country, down 0.8 percentage points from the same period last year.

The revenue growth of software business in central cities slowed down, and the total profit still showed negative growth. In the first quarter, the software business income of 15 sub provincial central cities in China was 1039.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.3%, a decrease of 0.7 percentage points from January to February, accounting for 51.8% of the national software business income, a decrease of 1.6 percentage points from the same period last year. Among them, the growth rate of software business income in 8 cities, including Ningbo, Jinan, Xiamen, Xi’an, Guangzhou, Dalian, Wuhan and Qingdao, exceeded the overall growth rate of the whole industry. The total profit was 108.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 11.9%.
