The Civil Aviation Administration issued the “statistical bulletin of civil aviation industry development in 2019” (hereinafter referred to as the “Communique”), which pointed out that in 2019, the civil aviation industry will maintain the strategic force of “controlling the total amount and adjusting the structure”, so as to ensure the stable and progressive development of the industry.

According to the bulletin, in 2019, the total transportation turnover of the whole industry will reach 129.325 billion tons / km, an increase of 7.2% over the previous year. The total transportation turnover of domestic routes was 82.951 billion ton kilometers, an increase of 7.5% over the previous year, of which the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan routes completed 1.690 billion ton kilometers, a decrease of 3.5% over the previous year; and the total turnover of international routes was 46.374 billion ton kilometers, an increase of 6.6% over the previous year. Passenger turnover of the whole industry reached 1170.530 billion person kilometers, an increase of 9.3% over the previous year. Domestic routes completed 852.022 billion passenger kilometers, an increase of 8.0% over the previous year. Among them, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan routes completed 16.046 billion passenger kilometers, a decrease of 2.8% over the previous year; international routes completed 318.508 billion passenger kilometers, an increase of 12.8% over the previous year. The total volume of freight and mail turnover of the whole industry was 26.320 billion ton kilometers, an increase of 0.3% over the previous year. Domestic routes completed 7.859 billion ton kilometers of cargo and mail turnover, an increase of 4.1% over the previous year, including 281 million ton kilometers of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan routes, a decrease of 6.9% over the previous year, and 18.461 billion ton kilometers of cargo and mail turnover completed by international routes, a decrease of 1.3% over the previous year.

According to the bulletin, in 2019, the total passenger traffic volume of the whole industry reached 659.9342 million, an increase of 7.9% over the previous year. Domestic routes completed 585.6799 million passenger traffic, an increase of 6.9% over the previous year, including 11.0756 million passenger trips from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, a decrease of 1.7% over the previous year, and 74.2543 million passenger trips by international routes, an increase of 16.6% over the previous year. In 2019, the whole industry completed 7.5314 million tons of cargo and mail transportation, an increase of 2.0% over the previous year. Domestic routes completed 5.1124 million tons of cargo and mail transportation, an increase of 3.1% over the previous year, including 222200 tons for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan routes, a decrease of 5.4% over the previous year, and 2419100 tons for international routes, down 0.3% over the previous year. In 2019, the industry wide transport Airlines completed 12.3113 million flight hours, an increase of 6.7% over the previous year. Domestic routes completed 9.9162 million transportation flight hours, an increase of 6.2% over the previous year, including 200800 flight hours for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan routes, an increase of 1.8% over the previous year, and 2.3951 million flight hours for international routes, an increase of 9.1% over the previous year. In 2019, the industry wide transport Airlines completed 4.9662 million take-off sorties, an increase of 5.8% over the previous year. Domestic routes completed 4.4778 million transport take-off sorties, an increase of 5.1% over the previous year, including 83800 flights from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, an increase of 2.0% over the previous year, and 488400 flights from international routes, an increase of 12.2% over the previous year. In 2019, the industry wide transport Airlines completed 32100 non production flight hours, including 14700 training flights and 66900 non production takeoff sorties.

According to the communique, by the end of 2019, there were 5521 scheduled flights and 4568 domestic routes, including 111 Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan routes and 953 international routes. The route mileage calculated by repeated distance is 13.6296 million kilometers, and that calculated by non repeated distance is 9.4822 million kilometers. By the end of 2019, there are 234 domestic regular flights (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan). China’s airlines have international scheduled flights to 167 cities in 65 countries. Mainland airlines have scheduled flights from 30 Mainland cities to Hong Kong, 19 mainland cities to Macao, and 49 mainland cities to Taiwan.

According to the bulletin, AVIC completed 2.7988 million flight hours in 2019. The total transportation turnover was 31.861 billion ton kilometers, an increase of 1.9% over the previous year, 143 million passenger trips, an increase of 4.2% over the previous year, and 2.0468 million tons of freight and mail transportation were completed, down 2.1% over the previous year. In 2019, China Eastern Airlines completed 2.4357 million flight hours. The total transportation turnover was 25.241 billion ton kilometers, an increase of 8.5% over the previous year, 130 million passenger trips, an increase of 7.5% over the previous year, and 1.4692 million tons of freight and mail transportation were completed, an increase of 1.8% over the previous year. In 2019, China Southern Airlines Group completed 2.9507 million flight hours. The total transportation turnover was 32.624 billion ton kilometers, an increase of 7.5% over the previous year; the passenger traffic volume was 152 million person times, an increase of 8.4% over the previous year; and the cargo and mail transportation volume was 1.7636 million tons, an increase of 1.8% over the previous year. In 2019, HNA completed 1.918 million flight hours. The total transportation turnover was 20.127 billion tons / km, up 3.5% over the previous year; the passenger traffic volume was 114 million person times, an increase of 4.6% over the previous year; and the cargo and mail transportation volume was 841900 tons, down 2.6% over the previous year. In 2019, other airlines completed 2224300 flight hours. The total transportation turnover was 19.473 billion tons / km, an increase of 19.1% over the previous year, 122 million passengers, an increase of 15.8% over the previous year, and 1.41 million tons of goods and mail were completed, an increase of 12.4% over the previous year.

According to the bulletin, in 2019, China’s civil aviation transport airports completed 1.352 billion passenger throughput, an increase of 6.9% over the previous year. Among them, in 2019, the eastern region completed 710 million passenger throughput, an increase of 5.4% over the previous year; the central region completed 156 million passenger throughput, an increase of 10.8% over the previous year; the western region completed 403 million passenger throughput, an increase of 8.3% over the previous year; the Northeast China completed 84 million passenger throughput, an increase of 6.2% over the previous year. In 2019, China’s civil aviation transport airports completed 17.1001 million tons of cargo and mail throughput, an increase of 2.1% over the previous year. Among them, in 2019, the eastern region completed 12.4592 million tons of cargo and mail throughput, which was the same as that of the previous year; the central region completed 1.247 million tons of cargo and mail throughput, an increase of 9.9% over the previous year; the western region completed 2.7904 million tons of cargo and mail throughput, an increase of 7.4% over the previous year; and the Northeast China completed a cargo throughput of 603600 tons, an increase of 9.6% over the previous year. In 2019, China’s civil aviation transport airports completed 11.6605 million sorties, an increase of 5.2% over the previous year. Among them, 9.8682 million were transported, an increase of 5.3% over the previous year. In 2019, there are 106 transport airports with an annual passenger throughput of more than 1 million passengers. Among them, the passenger throughput of airports in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou accounts for 22.4% of the total domestic airport passenger throughput, which is 0.9% lower than that of the previous year. In 2019, there are 59 transport airports with an annual cargo and mail throughput of more than 10000 tons. Among them, the cargo throughput of airports in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou accounted for 46.5% of the total domestic airport cargo throughput, which was 2.3 percentage points lower than that of the previous year. In 2019, Beijing Capital Airport completed 100 million passenger throughput, ranking second in the world for 10 consecutive years; Shanghai Pudong Airport completed 3.6342 million tons of cargo and mail throughput, ranking third in the world for 12 consecutive years.

“Communique” pointed out that in 2019, the national passenger airlines carried out a total of 4.6111 million flights, including 3.7652 million normal flights, with an average normal rate of 81.65%. In 2019, the major airlines carried out a total of 3.347 million flights, including 2.6911 million regular flights, with an average normal rate of 81.43%. In 2019, the average delay time of passenger flights in China is 14 minutes, a decrease of 1 minute compared with the same period of last year. In 2019, the CAAC, regional administrations, the consumer affairs center of CAAC and the China Air Transport Association accepted 30462 complaints from aviation consumers. In 2019, passengers’ satisfaction with airline and airport services will be 4.26 and 4.32 respectively (full score of 5).
