The results of the questionnaire survey on entrepreneurs of the people’s Bank of China in the third quarter of 2020 show that:
1、 Entrepreneur macroeconomic heat index
The macro economic heat index of entrepreneurs was 27.7%, 8.4 percentage points higher than the previous quarter and 4.7 percentage points lower than that of the same period last year. Among them, 45.6% of entrepreneurs think that the macro-economy is “cold”, 53.4% think it is “normal”, and 1.0% think it is “hot”.
2、 Product sales price perception index and raw material purchase price feeling index
The price perception index of product sales was 48.1%, 4.9 percentage points higher than the previous quarter and 2.4 percentage points higher than that of the same period last year. Among them, 11.8% of entrepreneurs thought that the sales price of products in this quarter was “up”, 72.6% thought it was “flat”, and 15.6% thought it was “down”.
The price perception index of raw materials purchase was 58.6%, 5.8 percentage points higher than the previous quarter and 2.3 percentage points higher than that of the same period last year. Among them, 23.2% of entrepreneurs thought that the purchase price of raw materials in this quarter was “up”, 70.8% thought it was “flat”, and 6.0% thought it was “down”.
3、 Export order index and domestic order index
The export order index was 43.6%, 11.6 percentage points higher than the previous quarter and 0.9 percentage points lower than the same period last year. Among them, 19.7% of entrepreneurs thought that export orders were “increased” compared with the previous quarter, 47.8% thought they were “flat”, and 32.5% thought they were “reduced”.
The domestic order index was 53.0%, 2.1 percentage points higher than the previous quarter and 5.9 percentage points higher than the same period last year. Among them, 26.3% of entrepreneurs thought that domestic orders in this quarter were “increased”, 53.4% thought they were “flat”, and 20.4% thought they were “decreasing”.
4、 Capital turnover index and sales return index
The capital turnover index was 56.1%, 4.5 percentage points higher than the previous quarter and 1.7 percentage points lower than the same period last year. Among them, 29.2% of entrepreneurs thought that the capital turnover was “good”, 53.9% thought it was “average”, and 16.9% thought it was “difficult”.
The sales return index was 58.3%, 4.9 percentage points higher than the previous quarter and 3.5 percentage points lower than the same period last year. Among them, 28.6% of entrepreneurs thought that the return of sales payment in this quarter was “good”, 59.4% thought it was “average”, and 12.0% thought it was “difficult”.
5、 Business climate index and profit index
The business climate index was 49.4%, 6.6 percentage points higher than the previous quarter and 4.0 percentage points lower than the same period last year. Among them, 17.2% of entrepreneurs thought that the business situation of enterprises in this quarter was “good”, 64.3% thought it was “average”, and 18.5% thought it was “poor”.
The profit index was 57.0%, 7.3 percentage points higher than the previous quarter and 1.7 percentage points higher than the same period last year. Among them, 39.2% of the entrepreneurs thought that “the profit and loss would increase or decrease”, 35.5% thought that “the profit and loss would not change”, and 25.3% thought that “the profit or loss would be increased or decreased”.
Preparation Description:
Entrepreneur questionnaire is a quarterly survey established by the people’s Bank of China since 1992. The subjects of the survey are more than 5000 industrial enterprises in China (except Tibet). The survey mainly includes seven aspects: the overall production status, production factors, market demand, capital, cost-effectiveness, investment and other aspects. The index in the entrepreneur questionnaire report is calculated by diffusion index method, that is, the proportion of each option is calculated, and different weights are given to each option (the weight of “good / growth” option is 1, the weight of “general / constant” option is 0.5, and the weight of “poor / declining” option is 0). The proportion of each item is multiplied by the corresponding weight, and then the final index is obtained 。 All indexes are in the range of 0-100%. If the index is above 50%, it indicates that the index is in a good or expanding state; if it is lower than 50%, it indicates that the index is in a state of deterioration or contraction.
The main index calculation methods are as follows:
1. Macro economic heat index: a diffusion index reflecting entrepreneurs’ judgment on the macroeconomic situation in this quarter. The calculation method of the index is to calculate the proportion of “hot” and “normal” economic situation in this quarter respectively among all the surveyed enterprises, and then sum them after giving weights of 1 and 0.5 respectively.
2. Product sales price perception index: diffusion index reflecting entrepreneurs’ judgment on the sales price of products in this quarter. The calculation method of the index is to calculate the proportion of “rising” and “flat” in the sales price of products compared with the previous quarter in all the surveyed enterprises, and then sum them after giving weights of 1 and 0.5 respectively.
3. Raw material purchase price perception index: diffusion index reflecting entrepreneurs’ judgment on the purchase price of raw materials in this quarter. The calculation method of the index is to calculate the proportion of raw material purchase price that is “increased” and “flat” in this quarter compared with the previous quarter, and then sum it after giving weights of 1 and 0.5 respectively.
4. Domestic order index: diffusion index reflecting entrepreneurs’ judgment on domestic order level of products in this quarter. The calculation method of the index is to calculate the proportion of “increase” and “flat” of domestic product orders in this quarter compared with the previous quarter, and then sum them after giving weights of 1 and 0.5 respectively.
5. Export order index: a diffusion index reflecting entrepreneurs’ judgment on the change of export orders of enterprises in this quarter compared with the previous quarter. The calculation method of the index is to first distinguish the enterprises with export business among all the enterprises surveyed, and then calculate the proportion of export orders that are “increased” and “flat” in this quarter compared with the previous quarter, and finally give weights of 1 and 0.5 respectively, and then sum them.
6. Capital turnover index: a diffusion index reflecting entrepreneurs’ judgment on capital turnover of the enterprise in this quarter. The calculation method of the index is to calculate the proportion of “good” and “general” capital turnover of enterprises in this quarter respectively among all the surveyed enterprises, and then sum them after giving weights of 1 and 0.5 respectively.
7. Sales return index: a diffusion index reflecting the entrepreneurs’ view on the withdrawal of sales payment in this quarter. The calculation method of the index is to calculate the proportion of “good” and “general” entrepreneurs think the sales funds are recovered in this quarter respectively among all the enterprises surveyed, and then sum them with weights of 1 and 0.5 respectively.
8. Business climate index: an index reflecting entrepreneurs’ judgment on the overall business situation of the enterprise in this quarter. The calculation method of the index is to calculate the proportion of “good” and “general” in the overall operation status of all the enterprises surveyed, and then sum them after giving weights of 1 and 0.5 respectively.
9. Profit index: the diffusion index reflecting the entrepreneur’s opinion that the enterprise’s profit in this quarter is compared with that in the previous quarter. The calculation method of the index is to calculate the proportion of “increase / decrease loss” and “constant profit and loss” of enterprises in this quarter respectively among all enterprises surveyed, and then sum them after giving weights of 1 and 0.5 respectively.
