The fourth edition of the monitoring report also updates the forecast data of the decrease in working hours in the first and second quarters of 2020 and compares them with the fourth quarter of 2019. In the first quarter of 2020, global working hours are expected to decline by 4.8% (equivalent to about 135 million full-time jobs, assuming a 48 hour week). This means that since the third edition of the monitoring report, the forecast data has increased slightly by about 7 million jobs. At the regional level, the regions with the largest reduction in working hours in the second quarter were the Americas (13.1%) and Europe and Central Asia (12.9%).
