Ipso’s “attitude towards disposable plastics” survey shows that an average of 3 / 4 respondents in 28 countries / regions agree to ban the use of disposable plastics as soon as possible.

Latin America and BRICs countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) have the highest degree of agreement on banning the use of disposable plastics, with 88% and 80% respectively; North America had the lowest level of consent, at 61%.

Similarly, Japan has the lowest approval rate (56%), followed by the United States (71%) and the Netherlands (73%).

Most people agree that manufacturers and retailers should bear the responsibility of reducing, reusing and recycling plastic packaging, with a global average of 85%. Latin Americans are most likely to agree (89%), followed by Europeans. Public opinion in Japan is not so consistent, and only 72% of Japanese agree with this statement.
