SaaS security investigation report in 2022 From Cloud Security Alliance

The following is the SaaS security investigation report in 2022 From Cloud Security Alliance recommended by recordtrend.com. And this article belongs to the classification: SAAS, cloud computing, research report.

1. Security events caused by SaaS configuration errors

Due to SaaS misconfiguration, at least 43% of enterprises have handled one or more security events. This figure may be as high as 63%, because a large number of people are not sure whether their enterprises have experienced security incidents due to SaaS misconfiguration. 17% of enterprises have security incidents due to configuration errors.

2. The main reasons for SaaS configuration errors are lack of visibility and too many departments can access

The main reasons for security incidents are two related problems: too many departments have access to SaaS security settings (35%) and lack of visibility of SaaS security settings changes (34%).

3. Investment in business critical SaaS applications exceeds SaaS security tools and personnel

In the past year, 81% of enterprises increased their investment in business critical SaaS applications, but fewer enterprises reported increasing their investment in SaaS security tools (73%) and employees (55%). This change means that the existing security team is increasingly burdened with monitoring SaaS security. Using automated monitoring of SaaS security can help alleviate this pressure, but only 26% of enterprises use this technology.

4. Manually detect and repair SaaS misconfiguration to expose the enterprise

When enterprises manually monitor and repair SaaS security settings, it will burden the security team and make enterprises vulnerable to attacks. Nearly half of the enterprises (46%) can only check once a month or less, and the other 5% do not check at all. About a quarter of enterprises need a week or more to solve the wrong configuration when repairing manually.

5. Using SSPM reduces the time to detect and repair SaaS misconfiguration

Enterprises using SSPM can detect and fix their SaaS misconfiguration faster. Most (78%) check their SaaS security configuration weekly or more frequently. Compare this with enterprises that do not use SSPM: only 45% of the latter can check weekly or more frequently. When solving the wrong configuration, 73% of enterprises using SSPM solved the problem in one day and 81% solved the problem in one week. In the comparison of enterprises that do not use SSPM, only 36% can solve the wrong configuration in one day and 61% can solve the problem in one week.
