The following is the Us gaming industry report in 2019 From American Gaming Association recommended by recordtrend.com. And this article belongs to the classification: research report, Internet Entertainment.
In 2018, the U.S. casino revenue was $41.78 billion, an increase of 3.5% over 2017, marking the fourth consecutive year of revenue growth in the industry. Since the U.S. economy came out of recession in 2009, the commercial gambling industry has been growing every year (except 2014). Twelve of the 24 states with commercial casinos reported record casino revenues in 2018, reflecting strong economies in many parts of the United States and an increase in the number of new casinos in some markets. Overall, only two states with commercial casinos reported lower revenues in 2018 than the previous year, Illinois and West Virginia, which fell only 0.1 percentage point.
economic impact
In 2018, 465 commercial casinos in the United States were not the only beneficiaries of revenue growth. The industry generated a total of $9.71 billion in direct gaming tax revenue for state and local governments and designated businesses. Taxes set a new record, up 3.1% from 2017, which only reflects taxes directly from gaming activities. According to the latest statistics of Oxford economics, the US commercial casino industry directly employed more than 361000 people in 2017, and the wages, benefits and tip income of these employees exceeded $17 billion in that year.
Sports gambling
In 2018, total U.S. sports gaming revenue increased from $261.3 million in 2017 to about $430.2 million. As more states regulate sports gaming through law, the market will grow exponentially in the next few years.
Tribal gambling
2018 is also the 30th anniversary of the Indian gambling control order (IGRA), a federal law passed by Congress in 1988 to establish and manage gambling on the land of sovereign tribal states. In 2017, tribal casinos made a record annual revenue of $32.4 billion.
New market and competition challenge
In November 2019, Arkansas voters approved a referendum authorizing up to four commercial casinos, making Arkansas the 25th state to host commercial casinos.
