The following is the The survey found that only 11% of Americans have confidence in TV news From Gallup recommended by recordtrend.com. And this article belongs to the classification: User Research.

Americans’ confidence in newspapers and television news has fallen to an all-time low. At present, only 16% of American adults say they have “great” or “considerable” confidence in newspapers, and 11% have confidence in television news. Both readings have fallen by five percentage points since last year.

Gallup has been tracking Americans’ confidence in newspapers since 1973 and in television news since 1993 as part of its annual survey of major institutions in the United States. The latest reading comes from the public opinion survey from June 1 to 20. Among the 16 institutions surveyed, the confidence index of 11 institutions fell, and none of them improved. Television news and newspapers are almost at the bottom of these institutions, and only Congress has received less public confidence than television news. Although these two news agencies have never received high confidence ratings, their rankings have declined in recent years.

Most Americans have only expressed trust in newspapers once – in 1979, 51% expressed trust. But there is a big gap between this and the second highest reading of 39% in 1973 and 1990. The average trend of newspapers is 30%, much higher than the latest 16%, which is the first time that the index is lower than 20%. The proportion of Americans who said “very little” or voluntarily expressed no confidence is currently the highest on record, at 46%.

Confidence in TV news has never exceeded the original 46% in 1993, with an average of 27%, much higher than the current 11%. This is the fourth consecutive year that the confidence in TV news is less than 20%. In this trend, most Americans (53%) now say that they have little or no confidence in TV news. This is only the second time. Republicans (5%) and independents (12%) have the lowest confidence in newspapers in the history of these party groups, while Democrats (35%) were also relatively low in the past. However, during Donald Trump’s administration, Democrats’ confidence in newspapers rose to 42% to 46%, but fell after President Joe Biden took office.
