The following is the Research on International Women’s Day 2022 | respect everyone and reject cyber violence From Ipsos recommended by recordtrend.com. And this article belongs to the classification: Life data, Ipsos.
With the rapid development of the Internet, more and more people enter this virtual world. People speak freely and pursue freedom of speech in the strange environment of the Internet. However, the following problems such as network privacy disclosure, network violence and network bullying have been continuously amplified. Those seemingly “less important” words and deeds have become a sharp blade through the spread of the Internet.
On the eve of 2022 International Women’s day, Ipsos and the Global Institute for women’s leadership of King’s College London jointly investigated gender equality and cyber hazards in 30 countries and regions around the world.
、
Ipsos survey found that 45% of respondents worldwide said they had experienced cyber violence or seen gender discrimination in the past two years. Among them, comments or pictures suggesting that men are better than women (16%) and suggesting that many problems faced by men are caused by women (16%) are the two most common ways of gender discrimination and online violence.
19% of women have seen “comments or pictures suggesting that men are superior to women”, 18% of women have seen “comments or pictures suggesting that many of the problems faced by men are caused by women”, while only 13% of men have seen relevant content in the past two years. Ipsos research results show that there are some differences in the sensitivity of men and women to suggestive pictures or comment information, which may be related to personal experience.
19% of women said they had received comments or compliments on their appearance without permission, and 11% had suffered gender discrimination against them or language that discriminated against women. In contrast, the proportion of men in these two items is 10% and 5% respectively, and there is a large gap between men and women.
Nearly 30% of those who have suffered from the above cyber violence, 32% of women choose to stop sharing their views on the Internet. As a result, the majority of women have panic anxiety, decreased self-esteem and self-confidence. Internet violence has changed their Internet behavior and had a negative impact on their mental health.
Of the 30 markets surveyed, 78% said women should not tolerate cyber violence. However, the recognition degree of men is generally lower than that of women, and only a few men in the market have higher recognition degree. However, when asked whether neglect is the best way for women to deal with online violence, people’s opinions diverged, with 35% agreeing and 39% disagreeing. However, both men and women should ensure their own safety regardless of the way they choose to deal with cyber violence.
“Cyber violence” has become a frequent social phenomenon in recent years. Many people are deeply troubled and even suffer from depression and other diseases. Cyber violence should be concerned by everyone. In November last year, the personal information protection law of the people’s Republic of China was officially implemented, which clearly mentioned the obligation to strengthen important Internet platforms and strengthen the punishment mechanism and intensity of infringement of personal information. At the same time, at the just concluded fifth session of the 13th National People’s Congress, how to curb cyber violence has also become a key topic of discussion.
Gender should not become a shackle of life. Improving women’s online public opinion environment and reducing women’s exposure to any form of online violence are the direction that everyone should strive for.
I wish you all a happy women’s Day!
