3D printing technology is expanding in application fields other than functional prototype and conceptual modeling. Respondents in the healthcare industry mainly applied it to R & D (78%), while respondents in the consumer goods industry also ranked R & D in the top three applications of 3D printing technology.
Respondents look forward to seeing the continued development of 3D printing technology. The improvement of printing quality (83%), the acceleration of printing speed (65%) and the increase of printing volume (52%) rank among the top three demands of technological development.
Respondents also hope that the 3D printing industry will continue to develop in the next 3-5 years to meet the different needs of users, including playing a more important role in the supply chain (44%) and for localized production (32%). 33% of respondents hope to have better measures to reduce the waste generated by 3D printing.
The report shows that there is an increasing concern about the sustainable development of 3D printing. For example, 22% of respondents use 3D printing technology to reduce waste generated in the production process, and 38% of respondents hope to improve the sustainability and recycling level of the industry in the next 3-5 years.
