The following is the App store global report in 2019 From Apple recommended by recordtrend.com. And this article belongs to the classification: App Store, research report, Mobile applications.
The app store initially provided about 500 apps for iPhone and iPod touch. Now it has grown to distribute millions of apps to the full range of Apple Devices (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, MAC laptop and desktop, and apple watch) in 175 countries and regions, with a cumulative download volume of hundreds of billions.
Earlier this year, apple reported that since 2008, it has paid more than $155 billion in revenue to app developers selling digital products and services through the app store or within its apps, a quarter of which was paid in 2019. This direct monetization of the app store is achieved through paid applications and digital content or services obtained from Apple’s in app payment system.
While direct monetization of apps is considerable, it greatly underestimates the size of Apple’s App Store ecosystem. This is because developers can choose to monetize in different ways, including several ways that do not involve transactions directly through the app store. These monetization strategies include selling digital goods and services outside the app store that can be used within apps on Apple Devices (such as streaming media applications), selling physical goods and services (such as grocery and fast food delivery applications), and providing advertising supported content (such as social networking applications).
Apple’s App Store ecosystem has generated more than $500 billion in bills and sales worldwide in 2019. More than 85% of the funds are owned by third parties only. This includes $61 billion in billing and sales of digital products and services (12% of total sales), 413 billion (80% of total sales) from sales of physical goods and services through applications, and $45 billion (9% of total sales) from in app advertising.
