PwC released the “private equity ESG report in 2021”. The multiple crises in the past 18 months have sounded an alarm to the world. Enterprises all over the world are adapting to the new environment and shifting environmental, social and Governance (ESG) issues from the edge of strategic attention to the center. The risk is great. By 2018, global sustainable investment has exceeded US $30 trillion and continues to grow, including ESG investment and social responsibility investment (RI). From 2018 to 2020, ESG focused assets managed by the United States increased by about $5 trillion, and the current estimated value of the global influential investment market is about $715 billion.
Private equity firms will make ESG the core of their business strategy, which will become a game changer in the new sustainable economy. Of course, there will be leaders and laggards, and those companies that do not accept ESG will face the risk of value decline.
ESG received more attention from the board. The survey found that 56% of companies said that ESG would appear at the board meeting more than once a year, and 15% said that ESG had been discussed at all board meetings.
Create value for investors and society. 66% of respondents listed value creation as one of the top three drivers of socially responsible investment or ESG.
